Battery storage for
underutilised energy assets.
We work out whether a battery makes sense on your wind, solar or grid-constrained site, then develop the project and bring in the capital partners and contractors it needs.
Why storage
Storage is worth assessing if you recognise any of these.
- Curtailment when the grid cannot take the output
- Hours of negative prices
- Volatile day-ahead prices
- Grid capacity that is paid for and not used
- A battery you would rather not fund alone
- A development process spread across many parties
What we do
Source
We look for sites where storage may pay.
Analyse
We assess generation, grid connection, battery configurations and project economics.
Structure
We propose the commercial model, the supplier set-up and the financing structure.
Finance
We bring the project to capital partners.
Deploy
We coordinate the technology, contracting and execution partners.
Electrical engineering, EPC, legal, tax, market access and trading stay with specialists.
What we assess
The battery is sized to the asset, and the commercial structure follows from the numbers.
The site
- Generation profile, hourly MWh
- Grid connection: capacity, contract, headroom MW Gate
- Curtailment and negative-price exposure
- Land, permits and site constraints
The project
- Battery power and duration MW, h
- Revenue stack by component
- CAPEX and OPEX, benchmarked €/kW · €/kWh
- Degradation, warranty cycles and round-trip efficiency
- Supplier terms
- Downside case
- Financing feasibility
Price assumptions come from published day-ahead prices, for example EPEX Spot for the Netherlands and Nord Pool for the Baltic and Nordic markets.
We stop when
- the grid connection cannot carry the battery;
- a number cannot be traced to a source;
- the economics only work in the upside case.
How a project can be structured
-
Investor-funded
You contribute the site, the grid access and the project rights. External capital funds the battery, and you pay little or nothing towards it upfront. You can take fixed payments, a revenue share or both.
-
Joint venture
You and an investor share the project. Ownership reflects what each of you contributes. We structure and develop it.
-
Owner-owned
The battery is yours. We develop the project and bring in lenders or investors.
Which one fits is decided after the assessment.
Who we work with
FluxNova
Assessment, development, structure
Asset side
- Wind park owners
- Solar park owners
- Renewable developers
- Owners of grid connections with spare capacity
Partner side
- Battery suppliers
- EPC contractors and engineers
- Energy traders and aggregators
- Infrastructure investors and lenders
We are in talks on projects in Latvia now, with Germany, Poland and the Netherlands next. We pass your name and details to a prospective investor or partner only when you agree to that specific introduction.
Capital partners
Once a project has been assessed and structured, we introduce it to investors and lenders.
What a partner receives
- An assessed site, grid connection and battery sizing
- Project economics with a downside case
- A proposed structure
- The supplier and EPC set-up
What we ask
- Evidenced capacity to fund
- Clean source of funds
- Mandate fit
- Decision process
- Discretion
How we work
- We assess every site against the same list.
- Sizing and economics come from a financial model.
